Challenges

This area of the zoo, that hadn’t been accessible to the public for over 30+ years, was undergoing a complete renovation for its reopening in 2022. Since this area was closed for decades, there was no maintenance performed and there was significant sediment buildup and debris causing substantial puddling throughout the area. Additionally, due to the historic construction of the drainage system, the terracotta pipes were extremely fragile, requiring delicate cleaning to prevent damage to the underground drainage system — all while remaining within budgeting constraints.

How We ACE’d It

Utilizing our CCTV camera, combo vacuum/jetter truck and our high-powered pressure washer, the ACE Team carefully investigated each line, cleaned out debris and delicately removed brick, stone and other obstructions from the system to create better drainage. This process took less than 3 days and came in under-budget.
