Challenges
This pond rehabilitation was a result of a 700+ gallon tanker spill in a parking lot located in Jessup, MD. Over 700+ gallons of diesel traveled from the parking lot into the nearby storm drain which fed to a nearby retention pond. The pond required a complete excavation to remove the contaminated soils and begin rebuilding to its original design.
How We ACE’d It
The ACE Team brought in an engineering partner to provide complete oversight of our reconstruction activities and make recommendations on Erosion & Sediment Controls. With proper coordination, ACE removed the petroleum impacted soils and reconstructed the pond with the proper combination of sand, clay and rip rap to restore the sediment pond to its original purpose.
